ABOUT GROUP THERAPY

A path through an overgrown forest. A symbol of Group Therapy.

Understand your patterns in relationships - and begin to change them

You may already have insight into yourself. You may have had therapy before.  And yet, in relationships, something still feels stuck.

Perhaps you:

  • hold back and feel unseen
  • worry about being “too much”
  • take responsibility for other's feelings
  • find yourself repeating the same dynamics over and over again

If this feels familiar, you are not alone.

Why group analysis?

Many of the patterns that shape our lives only emerge between people.  In a group you can begin to see those patterns as they happen, in a real relationship.

Over time this can help you:

  • recognise and understand how you relate to others
  • experiment with new ways of being
  • develop deeper, more satisfying connections

Change happens not just through insight, but also through experience.

Who is this is for?

These groups may be helpful if you are:

  • curious about your inner world and how you relate
  • aware of patterns you would like to understand more deeply
  • interested in personal development that goes beyond insight

They are also particularly valuable if you are:

  • a therapist seeking deeper self-understanding
  • considering training in group analysis

Once weekly group - Tuesdays 7.00pm to 8.30pm

This is a small group of up to eight members which meets once a week for 90 minutes. It is an analytic group in which group members are invited to say what is on their mind and to reflect on how they are relating to others within the group.

Twice weekly group - Mondays 6.45pm to 8.15pm and Thursdays 7.30am to 9.00am

This is also an analytic group and as it meets twice a week it enables group members to work more intensively at a deeper level. With shorter gaps between sessions there is more continuity and group members can explore the dynamics within the group more easily. This group is also suitable for people wanting to train in group analysis.

Monthly weekend group

This group takes place on a monthly basis at the weekend and is a concentrated format to experience group dynamics over a shorter period.  This is ideal for those who live out of London or who can't manage weekday sessions.  It is also suitable for people wanting to train in group analysis. The format is the same, namely a slow-open analytic group.  Sessions start at 3.00pm and finish at 6.30pm on Saturdays, with a break,  and 8.30am to 2.30pm on Sundays, with breaks.

Venue for all groups

All groups meet in Daleham Gardens, London NW3 5AU. This is close to Swiss Cottage, Belsize Park and Finchley Road tube stations and Finchley Road and Frognal Overground station.

Fees

Fees are calculated on the basis of 42 weeks per year divided into 12 monthly payments, which works out at £150 per month for the once weekly group, and £270 per month for the twice weekly group, Fees for the weekend group are £185 per month.  Fees are reviewed in April every year in line with inflation. I hold a limited number of low-fee slots for those on a reduced budget.
